Player of the Year

James Way, William Penn: James Way is in an usual position for a YAIAA football Player of the Year.

He was voted the honor despite not making the first team as a quarterback. Then again, his complete body of work includes doubling on defense in the Bearcats' secondary. That's a tireless job, considering what Way also accomplished on offense: passing for 1,671 yards and 17 touchdowns -- a league best through the regular season -- and collecting another 1,127 yards on the ground. He ran for another eight TDs for the 4-6 Bearcats, who will have the luxury of welcoming Way back next year for his senior season.

Other notable all-stars include Dylan Hose, the first-year starting quarterback who guided the Panthers to a Division I title. His coach, Brad Livingston, shared Coach of the Year honors with Dallastown's Kevin Myers.

Livingston saw Central (8-3) run through the YAIAA schedule without a blemish. Myers helped Dallastown (10-3) reach the District 3 Class AAAA semifinals for the first time in program history.
