Already decimated by injuries, the Northern Lebanon girls' basketball team suffered its final heartbreak Wednesday night in the first round of the District Three Class AAA tournament.

Lancaster-Lebanon League champion Lancaster Catholic eliminated the Vikings with a 79-37 victory on their home court. The undefeated Crusaders (25-0) jumped out to an 18-7 lead after the first quarter and never took their foot off the gas pedal.

Leading 37-21 at halftime, Lamar Kauffman's club added a punctuation mark with a 28-8 third quarter. Three players reached double digits for Catholic, including dynamic guard Porsche Speller with a team-high 13 points.

Forward Taylor Smith led Northern Lebanon with a game-high 16 points in her final scholastic contest. Mariah LiBrandi also chipped in with nine points before fouling out, and Kristen Lessing added a half dozen for head coach Ken Battistelli's squad.

NL, seeded No. 14 in the AAA bracket, ends the season at 14-9.
