The second season started last week, and two basketball players turned up their efforts and sent their respective teams to championship games.

Palmyra's Carly Richardson and Cedar Crest's Evan Horn both played key roles in crucial victories last week, and for their efforts they were named the Athletes of the Week for the Lebanon region.

For Richardson, she was also named the Female Athlete of the Week for the entire region, which encompasses the Lebanon, York, Hanover and Chambersburg areas.

Richardson scored 18 points in victories against Steel-High and Cumberland Valley to help the Cougars to a pair of wins and the championship in the Mid-Penn Conference playoffs.

Richardson also drained five total 3-pointers in the two wins that raised Palmyra's record to 24-0.

For Horn, he came up with a stellar 27-point effort in a thrilling 78-72 double-overtime victory against Elizabethtown, helping the Falcons reach the Lancaster-Lebanon League championship game for the first time since 1976.
