LEWISTOWN - Thanks to a victory over Mifflin County on Friday night, the Chambersburg boys basketball team will enter Tuesday's showdown against Harrisburg on a four-game winning streak.

The Trojans took care of business against the Huskies, outscoring them 21-8 in the second quarter on the way to a 60-45 Mid Penn Commonwealth Division victory.

"They were pretty aggressive on defense early - better than we thought they'd be - and we had a lot of turnovers," Chambersburg coach Beau Gantz said. "We called a timeout and told them we needed to match their intensity. It was just a lack of concentration.

"But we got into the game after that. We shot the ball well, our pressure picked up and we pushed the ball on them."

The Trojans (7-3, 3-3 MPC) knocked in all three of their 3-pointers in the second period, two by Aaron Sollenberger (career-high 12 points) and one by Tay Charles. By halftime, they had turned a 14-10 advantage into a comfortable 35-18 lead.

"Aaron played well and was very aggressive on defense," Gantz said, "and hopefully he can get a little confidence going."

Kellen Williams paced Chambersburg with 15 points and Evason Ogbonna added 13 points.

Gantz said, "Kyle Myers played really well on defense and Ryan Martin did a fabulous job on their big man (6-foot-7 Seth Wagner). He was able to push him away from the basket and he didn't do much scoring until really late. He has long arms and blocked some shots, but we made him work hard on defense and he expended a lot of energy at that end.

Wagner led Mifflin County (6-5, 1-5 MPC) with 16 points and Curtis Jerzerick added 14.

"I thought Stanley Flores continues to do a nice job on defense," Gantz said. "We need that. We can give Kellen or Tay a blow and he's been playing pretty steady."

Notes: Mitch Stahl was in California playing in a club volleyball tournament, but will be back next week Tuesday's game vs. Harrisburg is 7:30 at CASHS Field House.
