SHIPPENSBURG - The 32nd edition of the Central Pennsylvania Scholastic Soccer All-Star Games took place Sunday afternoon at Shippensburg University's David See Field under perfect weather conditions and goals were plentiful.

The Red team captured a 6-2 victory over the Black in the opening game, while the Blue edged White 3-2 in the second contest.

The event is sponsored by the Franklin County Chapter of PIAA Soccer Officials. The seventh annual Thomas Stouffer Award, a $500 scholarship provided by the chapter, was given to Shippensburg senior Jonathan Gerlach.

In the first game, Bishop McDevitt's Connor Maloney, a Penn State recruit, displayed his considerable skills and found the back of the net four times for Red. In the 12th minute, he flipped himself a pass to his right foot and banged in a shot. Just 47 seconds later, he stole pass by the defense and made it 2-0.

For his third goal, Maloney back-heeled a pass from Mercersburg Academy's Bruno Marangoni past the surprised keeper, and Marangoni also supplied the pass for Maloney's fourth score, a quick trap and shot.

Marangoni and McDevitt's John Hare scored the Red's final two goals, with Hare catching the keeper napping and scoring from about 35 yards out.

For the Black, Colin Frownfelter, normally a keeper for Boiling Springs, notched the first goal, and West Perry's Ryan McMillan tallied the other goal.

In the second game, the Blue scored a pair of goals about 90 seconds apart to take the lead.

Peter Kemery of Cumberland Valley maneuvered into position and shot into the far side for the first score, and Alex LaFaver of Cedar Cliff placed his shot just inside the right post.

Lower Dauphin's Jeff Light then went to work for the White team, bringing the score to 2-1 before halftime with a solo effort, and tying the game at 2-2 with 13:58 remaining.

But just 1:58 later, the Blue team scored the game-winner. Chambersburg's Bryce Stouffer received a ball deep down the left sideline and his cross found Oscar SanJuan of Gettysburg alone in front. A quick turn and shot by SanJuan and it was 3-2.

Chambersburg goalkeeper Jacob Sempowski made four saves in the first half for Blue, including three on point-blank reaction saves.
