Doubles teams from Strath Haven and Upper Darby rolled into the Central League doubles championships on the strength of strong quarterfinal efforts Friday at the Healthplex, earning berths in the District One championships.

The fourth-seeded team of Nick Ringle and Xandy Hammitt of Strath Haven defeated Sam Feldman and Faasel Khan of Radnor, 6-3, 6-2 in the quarterfinals.

It was the third match of the day for Feldman and Khan, who beat Nick Matlack and Max Rose of Harriton, 6-4, 7-6, and Jared Appel and Stefan Pfizenmayer of Garnet Valley, 7-6, 6-3.

Ringle and Hammit beat Pat Storey and Sebastian Stelmach of Haverford, 6-2, 6-2 in the second round.

Ringle and Hammitt take on top-seeded Larry Robinson and Andrew Legg of Lower Merion in the semifinals at 2 p.m. Saturday.

Robinson and Legg defeated Ryan Swope and Max Howarth of Conestoga in the quarterfinals.

The second-seeded doubles team of Brett Caban and Cortland Hooks of Upper Darby registered a 7-6, 6-3 win over Steve Yang and Nick Ruth of Conestoga.

Yang and Ruth beat Springfield’s Tyler Stroyek and Zakk Drumm, 6-3, 6-1 in the second round.

Caban and Hooks oppose third-seeded Griffith Kivitz and Heffie Liu of Harriton in the semifinals.

Kivitz and Liu beat Jon Abraham and Kris Knight of Haverford, 6-1, 6-2 in the second round before stopping Jeff Himmelstein and Alex Petrescu of Garnet Valley, 6-3, 6-2 in the quarterfinals.


The finals are scheduled to start at 4 p.m. The top five teams advance to the district playoffs.

In Inter-Ac action:

Haverford School 7, Germantown Academy 0: In the longest match of the day,Will Pierce and Mathias Fink carved out a 4-6, 6-2, 6-4 win at third singles.

Nathan Kidambi, Will McDevitt and Jackson Simon won in straight sets in singles. John Zipf and Drew Clark, and Avery Weiss and Ross Higgins won in straight sets in doubles.
