When it comes to the playoffs, Haverford has Upper Darby's number, at least this season.
Shane Moran scored twice as the third-seeded Fords bounced the sixth-seeded Royals from the ICSHL Central playoffs Monday night with a 5-2 victory at the Skatium.
It was the second time this season a team from Haverford knocked a team from Upper Darby out the playoffs. The Fords upset the Royals in the first round of the District One Class AAAA boys basketball tournament more than a week ago.
Steve McCrossin's power-play goal with 58 seconds left in the second period turned out to be the winner. Moran and Joe Gibbs added one goal each in the third period to seal the victory. Goalie Joseph Harant stopped 29 of 31 shots to get the win.
Haverford gets the winner of the game between second-seeded Springfield and No. 7 Radnor Wednesday night at IceWorks in Aston.
Buddy McPoyle and Michael Strofe scored for Upper Darby, while goalie Chris King made 26 saves.
In other Central playoff action:
Lower Merion 3, Ridley 0: Ian Yenal turned aside 20 shots to send the Aces into the semifinals. Albert Brody and Evan Wolf led the offense with one goal and one assist each.
In the Ches-Mont playoffs:
Henderson 8, Sun Valley 1: The Warriors scored four times in the first period to bring Sun Valley's league playoff run to an end. Shawn Ryan scored an unassisted goal in the second period to spoil the shutout bid. The Vanguards have qualified for the Flyers Cup A tournament and will play Cedar Crest March 2.
