The top four seeds played true to form in advancing to the semifinals of the Central League singles tournament Friday, while Rylee Power of Marple Newtown, Jessica Lynn of Radnor and Garnet Valley's Emma Blake and Stella Chen will look to recover from quarterfinal losses to nail down District One berths.

Power, the No. 5 seed, will square off against eighth-seeded Chen, and No. 6 seed Blake will take on No. 7 Lin today at Healthplex in Springfield in playbacks to determine the fifth- through eighth-place finishers. The top six are guaranteed spots in districts.

Chen outlasted Lower Merion's Rachel Golland, 6-3, 5-7 (2-7), 6-1, before falling to top-seeded Rachel Bemstock of Harriton, 6-0, 6-0, in the quarterfinals. Power took out Penncrest's Kate Cardamone, 6-0, 6-1, before bowing to fourth-seeded Simone Burde of Lower Merion, 6-2, 3-6, 6-3. Blake dispatched Strath Haven's Kelly Doyle, 6-0, 6-3, prior to dropping a 6-1, 6-3 quarterfinal to No. 3 Lauren Banner of Conestoga. Second-seeded Robyn Ferraro of Conestoga won the other quarterfinal, 6-0, 6-0, over Lin, who had advanced with a 6-1, 6-0 triumph over Springfield's Emily Smith.
