The wait for its first Del Val League win is over for the Chester volleyball team.

Francheska Torres had a strong overall game, and Shamyiah Cottman and Nashaly Boneu came up big at the net to lead Chester to a 3-2 Del Val League victory Monday afternoon.

The Clippers won 23-25, 25-21, 15-25, 25-19, 15-9 to pick up their first league win. Torres had five aces, five kills and one block. Cottman collected five kills and one block, while Boneu also came up with five kills.

Isamar Solis had seven assists and was clutch at the service line. Shanae Wiullis chipped in with six assists for the Clippers (1-4). Maddie Thornton recorded eight kills and seven aces for the Eagles. Courtney Profitt added 20 assists and five aces.

Elsewhere in the Del Val League:

Academy Park 3, Interboro 2: Totianna Mobley had seven kills, two blocks and two aces to help the Knights rally from a two-set deficit. Aneishan Brown (six aces, three kills) and Marisa Cormoe (four aces, four kills) also came up big for AP (5-2, 5-0 Del Val).

Krystle Mummert led Interboro with five kills and nine aces.

In the Central League:

Garnet Valley 3, Marple Newtown 0: Jenna Hostetler and Kelly Sarbaugh combined for 11 aces to help the Jaguars (8-2, 8-0) remain undefeated in league play. Maria Nicolaides led the attack with five kills and four blocks. Julianna Boettger chipped in with four kills.


Penncrest 3, Harriton 0: Emily Hopkins (nine kills) and Diana Balta (seven kills) controlled play at the net. Gianna Garguile dished out 16 assists and Andrea Hartman had 12 digs for the Lions (10-2, 7-1).

Strath Haven 3, Upper Darby 0: Alice Roberts led the Panthers (9-2, 7-1) with 11 kills and four aces. Kara Pell chipped in with 10 digs.

Rachel McIntyre led Upper Darby (1-8, 1-7) with 16 assists, four digs and three kills. Shayna Finn had seven digs and Shakeena Walls collected six kills and two blocks.

Springfield 3, Conestoga 2: Christina Smith dished out 18 assists and Rebecca Bennett recorded 11 kills as the Cougars won the final two sets to beat the Pioneers. Katherine Hughes had 12 digs and Chloe Williams contributed five blocks.

Ridley 3, Radnor 0: Samantha Schreiber was big at the net with 12 kills. Molly Murtha (four kills) and Amy Staiber (four aces) helped the Green Raiders (5-5, 4-4) reach the .500 mark.

In the Ches-Mont League:

Bishop Shanahan 3, Sun Valley 0: Chelsea Jones had 13 assists and 12 kills, while Madison McCunney chipped in with 11 kills and two blocks.
