Another weekend, another title for Cardinal O'Hara.
Led by Kevin James' second-place performance at the Belmont Plateau, the Lions coasted to a win in the championship division of the Briarwood Invitational Saturday.
The All-Delco James completed the course in 15 minutes, 56.47 seconds, exactly five seconds slower than the individual champion, Ross Wilson of Council Rock North.
James was closely followed by All-Delcos Jim Belfatto (sixth in 16:36.21) and Drew Pastore (seventh in 16:43.39). Rob Morro finished 12th, and Christian Donnelly was 17th to give the Lions a team score of 43, well ahead of runner-up Chaminade (65). Division II: Justin Miller of Springfield was the top Delco finisher, his time of 17:41.31 good for 17th in helping the Cougars to a 12th-place team finish. Teammate Liam Galligan was 33rd.
Episcopal Academy was the top team among the Delco contingent, taking seventh place. Ryan Quinlan was the first of the Churchmen across the line, stopping the clock in 18:12.29 for 28th place. Michael Quinlan was 42nd and Jack Alden 48th as the Churchmen collected 223 points.
Marple Newtown, led by James Hare's 23rd-place finish and Matt Moore taking 40th, finished 10th as a team. Haverford School was 13th, led by Alex Kim's 38th-place result. PIAA Foundation Invitational Blue Race (Class AA): Ryan Rastatter covered the State Course at Hershey Park in 17 minutes, 25 seconds, the seventh-fastest individual time to help Bonner-Prendergast finish sixth in the Class AA team standings.
Sean Sullivan was 16th, Joe Sullivan clocked in 19th and Steve Cromity was 34th for the Friars.
Archbishop Carroll was 24th in the 26-team field, led by Matthew Fohner (74th in 19:26) and John Coppa (83rd, 19:39).
