Behind a 26-12 fourth-quarter flurry, the Lebanon Catholic boys' basketball team knocked off first-place Lancaster Catholic 62-55 in a Lancaster-Lebanon League Section Four showdown Wednesday night in the Red Rose City.

The Crusaders entered the final quarter leading 43-36 but could not slow down a balanced-Beaver attack led by Alex Frattaroli (21 points). Timmy Orr also added 15 and Anthony Pletz dropped 11 to help improve Lebanon Catholic to 7-2 overall and 3-2 in the league.

The Beavers, undefeated in the section, entered the night tied for third place with Columbia, trailing frontrunners Lancaster Catholic and Lancaster Mennonite. The Blazers' 61-52 triumph over the Crimson Tide on Wednesday leaves Lebanon Catholic tied for second with Lancaster Catholic.

  • Northern Lebanon 61, Garden Spot 50: In New Holland, the Vikings picked up their fourth straight victory to improve to 7-3 overall and 3-2 in Section Three. Junior Sam Light scored a game-high 18 points, and Isaac Ray and Richard Iwuagwu contributed with 13.

    Northern Lebanon built a 32-21 halftime lead before the teams played to a second-half draw. Christian Morales also chipped in nine points.

  • Annville-Cleona 50, Pequea Valley 40: In Annville, the Dutchmen snapped a four-game losing streak with a Section Four victory over the Braves. A-C outscored Pequea Valley 17-8 in the first quarter and 33-32 over the final three frames.


    Derrick Sanders and Casey Smith both scored a dozen, while Zach Weaber and Paxson Hayes each added eight points for the Dutchmen (4-6 overall and 2-3 in the L-L).

  • Palmyra 58, Lower Dauphin 47: In Hummelstown, the Cougars won their fourth straight game behind a monster game from Trey Baker, who scored 26 points on the strength of six 3-pointers. The win makes Palmyra 7-3 overall and 3-2 in the Keystone Division.

    Palmyra saw a 15-7 first-quarter lead turn into a 23-23 tie by halftime, but the Cougars outscored the Falcons 35-24 in the second half to win going away.

  • Lebanon 56, Solanco 38: In Quarryville, the Cedars rolled out to a 19-11 first-quarter lead and never looked back, improving to 5-4 overall and 3-2 in Section Two.

    Lebanon's lead grew to 26-16 by halftime and was 43-29 by the start of the fourth quarter. Drey Murray and Jorian Ginnetto both had 16 points to pace the Cedars, while Josh Spaulding added 11.

  • Lampeter-Strasburg 75, Elco 26: In Lampeter, the Pioneers cruised to the Section Three victory over the Raiders, jumping out to leads of 19-5, 45-14 and 68-23 after each of the first three quarters to win going away.

    Derek Miller and Robert Shultz both scored six points to lead Elco, which fell to 3-7 overall and 1-4 in Section Three.
