Colette Weaver and Nicole Cookerly scored nine points apiece Friday night, but Hanover's lack of scoring after the first quarter hurt the Hawkettes in a 36-35 girls' basketball loss to Antietam in an opening-round game at the Hawkette Holiday Tournament.

Hanover scored led 15-10 after the opening quarter but scored just 20 more points the rest of the way.

The Mountaineers got 14 points from Vanessa Epps and advanced to today's championship game against Wyomissing in an all Berks County affair. The Spartans outclassed New Hope Academy, 70-6, in another first-round game Wyomissing led 43-0 at halftime.

Hempfield Holiday Tournament

  • West York 65, Lancaster Catholic 49: The Bulldogs received double-digit scoring from Zona Smith (14), Liz Kane (13) and Paige Elliott (12) in a first-round victory over the Crusaders.

    Up next for West York is a date with Oxford in today's championship game. The Hornets needed double overtime to beat Hempfield, 43-40, in another first-round game.

    Marauder Shootout

  • Delone Catholic 52, Hollidaysburg 38: In Altoona, Sierra Moore tossed in 19 points, powering the Squirettes past the Golden Tigers in a first-round game.

    Chelsea Hoffman and Courtney Riggs scored nine points apiece for Delone, which advanced to today's championship game against Bishop Guilfoyle. The tournament hosts reached the finals by besting Tyrone, 56-31, in another first-round game.
