Westtown's Stuart Tweedie was a double winner, and West Chester Henderson's Tony Russell won the 1600 at the Henderson Invitational boys track meet on Friday.

Tweedie captured the 100 and 200, while Russell outkicked Malvern Prep's Jaxson Hoey for the 1600 title.

Henderson's Steve Thompson was first in the 300 hurdles, Downingtown East's Justin Platt won the pole vault, Downingtown West's Blair Wilkins won the long jump, and Conestoga's Alex Silverstein captured the javelin.

West Chester Henderson Invitational: West Chester East's Alyson Hall captured first place in the 100 and 200 to lead the area contingent.

Unionville had a pair of winners in Olivia Young (1600) and Samantha Pancoast (javelin).

Downingtown East also had two winners in Kennedi VanEyken (triple jump) and Caitlin Manthe (discus).

W.C. Henderson 3, Downingtown West 2, 9 innings: West Chester Henderson (4-4 league) scored a run with two outs in the bottom of the ninth to win the hard-fought Ches-Mont game.

Junior Kevin Miller delivered the two-out single that drove in Mike Hill with the winning run.

Scott Lorback had three hits, including an RBI double in the sixth that made it 2-1. Tyler McCabe's RBI single tied it.

Miller finished with two hits.

Dave Reitman pitched the first five innings and Jason McMahon went the rest of the way to gain the win.

Sean Esch pitched eight solid innings for Downingtown West (4-2 league).

The Whippets scored their two runs in the third on an error and a Josh Marcelli ground out.

Ches-Mont League American Division Singles Tournament: Unionville had two players advance to the semifinals after Friday's matches at Kennett.

Top-seeded Johnny Wu did not lose a game in his two matches, and Ross Fitzsimmons upset third-seeded Charles Swope of Great Valley in the quarterfinals.

West Chester Rustin freshman Luke Shevlin, seeded second, made the semifinals, along with fourth-seeded Adarsh Nair of Great Valley.

Semifinal matches will be held today (9 a.m.) at West Chester Rustin with the finals to follow.

Ches-Mont League National Division Singles Tournament: West Chester Henderson's Karl Hoegstedt and Andrew Maza made it through to the semifinal round after the first day of competition at West Chester Henderson.

Also advancing were top-seeded freshman Michael Dickson of Downingtown East and third-seeded Billy Rocker of Avon Grove.

Hoegstedt, also a freshman, is seeded second.

Maza was not seeded and had to win three matches to gain the semifinals. He knocked off fourth-seeded Saran Viswanathan of West Chester East in three sets in the second round.

The semifinals are slated to start at 9 a.m. today back at Henderson. The finals will follow.
