West Chester University's Victor Polyakov set an NCAA Division II national men's swimming record to highlight day one at the Frank Elm Invitational at Rutgers University on Friday.

Polyakov touched the wall in the 500-yard freestyle in 4:20.26 to win by 12 seconds over teammate Bradley Strathmeyer (4:32.99).

The time was also good for a Division I "B' cut time.

West Chester was second in the team standings after five events.

Jared Haley (4:33.07) and Phil Letcavage (4:36.12) were right behind Polyakov and Strathmeyer in the 500 free

David McCormick, a West Chester Henderson graduate, won the 200 individual medley in 1:49.88, and the Golden Rams' 400 medley relay team of Michael O'Brien, Bogdan Grebenyuk, Luke Maguire and Polyakov also placed first.

Ryan Stahley placed third in the 50 free (21.32), and the 200 free relay was third (1:24.79).

Women's SwimmingFrank Elm Invitational: West Chester University's 400-yard medley relay took first place to highlight day one at Rutgers University.

Megan Winslow, Kendall Somer, Alexis Walley and Mia Barone won in 3:48.96 as West Chester took the lead in the six-team field with 452.5 points.

Winslow and Barone were joined by Emily Stang and Tess Hayward on the 200 free relay that was second in 1:35.19.

Lauren Carastro was second in the 500 free (4:57.32), while Walley placed fifth (4:59.38), and Codyanne Murtaugh seventh (5:02.51).

Winslow was second in the 200 IM (2:05.65), and Amelia Buckley was third (2:06.90).

Spring-Ford 8, Bishop Shanahan 2: Joe Moran netted both goals for Bishop Shanahan in the ICSHL Ches-Mont game.

Keegan Hughes and Brenday Murray picked up the assists.Sun Valley 5, Great Valley 1: Matt Robinson scored a second-period goal off a Will Clewett assist, but Great Valley fell in the ICSHL Ches-Mont game.Conestoga 10, Upper Darby 1: Michael Switucha's six goals lifted Conestoga in the Central League game.

Ryan Caldwell chipped in with two goals and three assists, while Sean Pringle had a goal and an assist. Collin Borzell added a goal, and Tim Muir tacked on a pair of assists.

Girls Ice HockeyDowningtown East 6, Downingtown West 4: Downingtown East jumped out to a 4-1 lead after the first period and went on to post the ICSHL victory.

Katie Stueve led the Cougars as she netted four goals. Renee Agsten and Emily Tinguely scored the other goals.

For Downingtown West, Libby Barbato and Lindsay O'Donohoe both had a goal and an assist.

Emelia Bebee and Elizabeth D'Ginto scored one goal apiece.Unionville 6, Radnor 0: Unionville earned the ICSHL shutout with a 43-4 advantage in shots.

Claire Donovan and Kaitlyn Anderson both had a goal and an assist. Sierra Dycio, Kaelyn Murphy, Emily Anderson and Hannah Close added one goal apiece.

Laela DeFillipo handed out two assists.
