Daniel Boone senior Xavier Smith continued to burn up the track Saturday at the Firing Meet at Governor Mifflin High.

The Penn State-bound Smith won both the 100 (10.73) and 200 (21.50) while anchoring the Blazers' first-place 4x100 (42.92) and 4x400 (3:25.25) relay teams.

Boone's Kenny Worthington won both the long jump (21-2.5) and high jump (6-3) while also being part of the first-place 4x400 relay team (along with Steve Sievers and Anthony Kahn) and finishing fourth in the 400 (52.05).

Kahn, Cmane McFadden and Paul Galanti were the other members of Boone's 4x100 relay squad.

Also for the Blazers, Kahn was second in the boys 300 hurdles (40.75), McFadden was second in the boys high jump (6-1), Drew Kresge was fourth in the boys discus (140-8), Adam Myers was fifth in the boys shot (46-6.5), Steph Sievers was second in the girls javelin at 136-3, Emilee Durso finished third in the girls 800 (2:21.5), Abby Snyder was fourth in the girls 3200 (12:18.47), Alex Santora was fourth in the girls 300 hurdles (47.33), the 4x400 relay team of Lauren Reightneour, Durso, Abby Lodge and Santoro finished fourth (4:22.82), Kira Miller was fifth in the girls 100 hurdles (16.32), Lodge finished fifth in the girls 200 (27.03),




Berks semifinals postponed: Saturday's Berks Conference semifinals at Lyons Park were postponed by rain and rescheduled for Monday night, back at Lyons.

Daniel Boone (20-0) faces Kutztown in the 7 p.m. nightcap. In the 5 p.m. opener, Brandywine Heights faces Hamburg.



Perkiomen School 5, Friends Central 1: Devon Crossin struck out five and allowed five hits and run one over five inning as the Panthers notched a non-league victory in a game called in the sixth inning by rain.

Josh Cruz had a two-run single for Perkiomen School (16-5), which tuned up for Monday's Tri-County League championship against Barrack Academy.



Hill School 14, Peddie School 4: Jake Saenz headed a Blues offense whose big point production capped a satisfactory Senior Day outing against Peddie School.

Saenz hit for a game-high six goals — three in each half — while Will Schantz added a hat trick for the Hill. Tyler Pusey chipped in with a pair of tallies, and goalkeeper Jake Myers made 11 stops in the locals' regular-season finale.

Bishop Shanahan 14, Perkiomen Valley 4: Kevin Mo's 20-save goaltending and Shawn Dickey's two goals were the highlights for the Vikings in a non-league loss to the Eagles.



Boyertown Bear-Cubs 3, Upper Perk 2: Tate Yergey's RBI double scored Tyler Mraz with the winning run in the bottom of the sixth, lifting the Bear-Cubs to a non-league victory over the Braves. Grant Fronheiser had a double and two RBI for Boyertown. Pat Maloney got the win, with Zach Benning picking up the save.

Grizzlies sweep: The Boyertown Grizzlies took a pair of non-league games from South Parkland, by scores of 5-1 and 5-3.

In the first game, the Grizzlies (5-1) got hits and RBI from J.T. Cooley, Corey Melchior and Marcus Thomas in suppport of winning pitcher Trevor Waldman. In the second game, Boyertown was led at the plate by Jake DiCesare (two runs) and Thomas (double, two RBI) while Melchior picked up the pitching win.
